"As a recipient of the 2019 ASBMR Fund for Research and Education Diversity Young Investigator award, I was able to attend the 2019 Annual Meeting in Orlando and present my work! This award not only made this conference possible for me, but made me feel very appreciated by the society. I think this award symbolizes ASBMR's dedication to improving diversity among young researchers, and throughout the society. This is a meaningful statement to early researchers from underrepresented populations, like myself, and does not go unnoticed. I also had the tremendous opportunity to network with other award winners, donors, and ASBMR board members, and make connections across the nation. I truly feel like ASBMR is making meaningful progress in diversity and inclusion, and I am grateful for the support! ."-Laura E. Flores
