ASBMR Fund for Research and Education Betsy Love McClung, FN, MN Travel Grant Awardees
The Betsy Love McClung, FN, MN Travel Grant was established in 2016 to provide travel funding for nurses and allied health professional caring for patients with osteoporosis to continue their professional development by attending the ASBMR Annual Meeting. Funds for these awards were made possible from contributions in memory of Betsy Love McClung, who established the session on Annual Meeting Highlights for Allied Health Professionals, which grew to become a popular session for all attending the meeting.
2019 Recipient
The 2019 recipient of the Betsy Love McClung, FN, MN Travel Grant was Solange Bernardo, BSN, a fracture liaison nurse at Western Health and Australia Institute of Musculoskeletal Science.
"The travel grant has helped me in my career, because by coming to the ASBMR conferece I learn a lot more in regards to osteoporosis and how to treat my patients. Learning new concepts in the field at ASBMR helps me become better at my job."-Solange Bernardo, BSN.

The 2018 recipients of the Betsy Love McClung, FN, MN Travel Grant were Lori McLeer Maloney, CRNP, MBA, RN, BC-ADM, CDE a nurse practitioner from the University of Pennsylvania and Alicia Turner, MSN, RN, FNP-C a nurse practitioner from the Baylor College of Medicine Texas Children's Hospital.

2017 Recipients
The 2017 recipients of the Betsy Love McClung, FN, MN Travel Grant were Pauline Fisher, RN, BScN, BA, MN, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Seniors, Community Medicine and Emergency Program at Hamilton Health Sciences, and Amy Mundy, FNP, Endocrine Nurse Practitioner, BC-ADM, Division of Endocrinology at McGuire VA Medical Center. "Attending the ASBMR was an amazing opportunity for me, as a nurse to attend a large conference in my field of interest – osteoporosis. "I am grateful and honored to have received the Betsy Love McClung Travel Grant. It gave me the opportunity to attend the ASBMR meeting for the first time. I learned so much and have already shared a lot of this information with my colleagues and patients. 2016 Recipients
The 2016 recipients of this special travel grant were Patricia Seuffert, ANP, a Research Coordinator and Adult Nurse Practitioner at University Orthopaedic Associates in Somerset, New Jersey and Jayme Elizabeth Ewanichak, SRNP, a Nurse Practitioner at the Division of Endocrinology at the Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania. "I am excited to attend the ASBMR meeting since the topics presented include mechanisms of disease in the bone, vitamin D, the aging process, hormonal influences on bone, and current trends in the treatment of bone disease. I will be able to directly translate knowledge from the meeting into not only patient care and education, but also into our programs to improve outcomes after fragility fracture.
